We are seeking a Structural Steel Designer capable of thinking outside the box. Mechanical aptitude, experience in steel erection or fabrication, a desire for continual personal growth, and experience in project management are all beneficial traits for this position.
Range of Responsibilities can Include
- Design of Steel Structures from Conception to Completion
- Produce structural concepts using 3D Modeling software
- Create fabrication/erection drawings and packages for builds
- Create as-built drawings.
- Review drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Modelling and Extraction of Existing Site Conditions
- 3D Scanning of existing structures and modelling.
- Read and extract specific information from Architectural and Structural design drawings, specifications, and sketches.
- Project Management:
- Prepare accurate, clear, and concise detailed fabrication drawings, general arrangement plans, anchor bolt layouts, sketches and written instructions using Tekla Structures 3D automated detailing software and AutoCAD.
- Perform changes, additions and/or revisions as necessary to meet contract requirements.
- Procure parts and materials.
- Meet established goals and objectives and communicate project status to internal and external clients.
- Support installations and manage projects on-site as required.
- Travel to international job sites available long term
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary technical education (Architectural Technology, Construction Technology).
- Experience with Tekla Structures or similar detailing software is a tremendous asset.
- Skilled in AutoCAD.
- Able to work efficiently and produce immediate results with minimal supervision.

The Designer will assist and perform design, documentation, procurement, fabrication, and installation of custom equipment.
Experience in designing material handling equipment for automotive production is an asset but not required. (Lift Assists, Automated Equipment, Conveyance Lines, Overhead Steel Support, Ergonomic Assists, etc)
Range of Responsibilities: Involved from Conception to Completion.

- Create concepts and layouts for new and existing equipment

We are currently seeking a special person that will carry out CAD technician duties but also take on an engineering administrative assistant role within our team of experienced professionals located at our head office in Ingersoll, ON.

Working with highly motivated engineers, you will be involved with all engineering administrative tasks required to carry out our projects as well as support electrical drafting duties. POW Engineering supports a flexible working environment including options to work remotely or in the office. This position will require office presence on a regular basis. Our goal is to help you and your teamwork effectively and collaboratively to produce results that matter.
The engineering assistant key objective is to provide administrative support to the project execution team. The position will work alongside our project and team leads providing administrative support to projects from inception to closure.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain all administrative aspects of jobs: project number creation, file archiving, as sold records, customer correspondence, PO acknowledgement, engineering file coordination, timesheet review and compilation, material ordering, expediting, shipping arrangements, custom paperwork, etc.
- Create and update electrical schematics and 2D layout CAD drawings as per designer’s request.
- Manage and process all aftersales market requirements: costing update, order processing, build coordination, shipping and billing handling.
- Ensuring a steady flow of the construction by tracking misplaced, lost, or unplanned parts.
- Overseeing that released projects and parts are successfully issued and planned for manufacturing and purchasing
- Create BOMs and ERP per the designer’s requests.
- Add/Update BOM and assembly changes in ERP per designer’s requests.
- Revise part changes in ERP per designer’s requests.
- Release parts to purchasing and manufacturing per designer’s requests.
- Support ECN changes by:
- Evaluation of the impact of change by checking the status of parts in WIP and inventory in ERP.
- Coordinate with inventory to ensure incorrect parts are scrapped, update ERP.
- Coordinate with inventory to ensure parts are to the latest revision, update ERP.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing to ensure they or outsourced suppliers are working to the latest revision.
- Track and coordinate with Manufacturing to ensure modifications to existing parts are being made, update ERP.
- Modify part/assembly releases in ERP.
- Notifying PM of the status of parts being changed.
- Request revised or new parts/assembly drawings are being re-printed and given to PM to replace in books.
- Conserve executive’s time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information; initiating telecommunications.
- Receive and coordinate RFPs.
- Develop marketing materials.
- Edit and proofread finalized proposal documents.
- Manage and maintain software licenses and renewal agreements.
- Update ERP records with a new supplier and customer information or pricing updates.
- Follow procedures for proposal and project stages.
- Assist engineering or team leads in formatting, editing, researching proposals or projects, obtaining pricing, sourcing material, and more.
- Support and compile T&M billable invoicing data.
- Answer questions and handle customers’ requests for additional supporting billing documentation or reference files.
- Preparing and facilitating digital library of engineering drawings to ensure successful initiation projects and aftersales support.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project documentation (Files, Drawings, Specs, Transmittals, Reviews, Approvals, etc.).
- Key liaison between engineering and finance for all orders, invoicing, payroll, and expenses.
- Assist engineering department and fabrication shop in various administrative tasks such as ordering, inventory count, ERP receiving status updates, etc.
- Support recruitment and new employee onboarding tasks.
- Manage and maintain ERP for all shop inventory and consumables.
- Process and publish KPI reports.
- Other tasks as assigned and needed.
Requirements:
- 2 – 4 years of related experience in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- 3 – 5 years of related electrical or mechanical drafting experience in AutoCAD LT or equivalent.
- Proficient with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher.
- You have a minimum of 2 years of experience supporting a manufacturing, engineering, or comparable department.
- Have experience creating and managing BOMs.
- Ability to interpret an engineering drawing, revision records, technical language & documentation is required.
- Strong soft skills: ability to liaise between different teams across different sites.
- Experience in digital records management is not required but preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage several requests at once with frequent interruptions.

We are currently seeking a Controls Systems Engineer to join our team of experienced professionals located at our head office in Ingersoll, ON.
Working with other highly motivated team members, you will be involved with designing, programming integrating, troubleshooting, and supporting new and existing automated controls systems. - Control system design
- PLC programming
- Electrical design including electrical schematics creation in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other
- Design/programming of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
- Troubleshooting of electrical, PLC, and HMI systems
- Interfacing with real-time database applications to manage critical production information
- Supporting project proposals and estimation
- Preparing functional specifications
- Assisting with equipment selection and procurement
- Site commissioning and installation
- Performing other duties as required
Qualifications Required:
- Ability to design and create electrical schematics including component sizing and selection
- Ability to problem solve
- Aptitude for Programming (SCL, SFC, STL, C, C#, VBA, SQL, Ladder Logic, or other languages) is an asset
- Knowledge of PLCs (e.g. ControlLogix, Toyopuc, Siemens S7) is an asset
- Knowledge of HMIs (e.g. FactoryTalkView, Screenworks, Proface, Wonderware, iFix) is an asset
- Familiarity with IT/Networking and database applications is an asset

Job Purpose: Pow Specialty is looking for driven individuals whose primary responsibility are welding and fitting. These team-first people will want a career in a fast-paced environment with a company involved in multiple industries. You will have a thirst for knowledge and will be flexible. Personality and drive will be valued above experience, but experience is an asset. We are willing to train! You will have the opportunity to learn how to operate equipment outside of the conventional welder/fitter position if desired.
